Whether you need a bit of fresh air, a change of scenery from your apartment home, or a fun, socially distant activity for your children, the parks in San Antonio are some of the most beautiful and well-equipped in the nation. Though there are countless nature preserves and parks in the Alamo City, we must agree that these 3 are among the best. Plan your visit now!
Brackenridge Park
3700 North Saint Mary's Street
San Antonio, Texas 78212
Located along the San Antonio River, Brackenridge Park has been a historic gathering place for 12,000 years. The park was established upon ancient lands in 1899, and today, it’s one of the city’s most beloved natural areas. Enjoy all 343 of its acres, which boasts classic attractions like playgrounds and sports fields, in addition to a zoo, miniature train, and the state’s oldest municipal golf course.
San Pedro Springs Park
2200 North Flores
San Antonio, Texas 78212
Though not as large as Brackenridge Park, San Pedro Springs Park is arguably just as historic as the former. In fact, San Pedro Springs is located at the original site of the city of San Antonio. Visit this 46-acre park and you’ll not only get to experience the oldest park in the state of Texas, but you’ll also see where the Payaya natives lived, in a village known as Yanaguana. Pretty cool stuff!
Friedrich Wilderness Park
21395 Milsa Drive
San Antonio, Texas 78256
For a truly “wild” experience, check out Friedrich Wilderness Park! Though located a little further out of the city, the short drive will be well-worth your effort, when you realize what an amazing gem this park is. The park is as natural as they come, with many winding trails, bird watching opportunities, and scenic hills and canyons. Visit, and you’ll wonder whether you’re still in San Antonio!
